Hey coast, we know there has been a big concern lately
with the shrednecks. we have been skating around for a
few years - totally unaware of coast or the longboard
community. over this time we have developed a style -
almost a street skateboarding style. ( hit cool spots for
pictures, generally without a helmet, cruise around and
chill out) As a group of friends, we started to yearn to go
faster; ride harder. We found some fullface helmets and
gloves, and fullfilled this portion of our skating. Over
time, we were guided to coast longboarding. Coast is
clearly a close family of skaters who know how to shred
hard while being safe and organized. Being just out in
coquitlam and not close to much heat or other skaters, we
continued to ride and built out team. Relating our attitude
to lords of dogtown, we made the team to do only what
we had been doing before - shredding around and chilling
together as a group. We like the old school style, the
swimming in backyard pools and skitching city busses. We
know you do not approve of anybody skating without a lid
- ruining the image for everyone else. We are newer to the
coast longboarding scene, and we plan on putting on a lid
and some pads. None of us like the hatred some of you
seem to show us, we would love any tips or advice from
any more experienced riders. Expect to see some more
helmts in our pictures - even though we tend to try a shot
til we get it, then repeat it without a helmet to add an "old
school" vibe. If you have seen us bombing anything big
before - We do not go without fullfaces and leathers.
Allow us to be part of your community, We only want to
shred and have a good time. Any tips and advice are
great! If you want to skate wth us, let me know! I am a
photographer so if anyone has an idea for a shot im
always in. I know some of my team mates will be upset
with me for backing down with our style - but hey, a
helmet is for safety and everyone can still see the content
of the riding, hopefully not call us goons for being so
unsafe and appearing careless. I hope you can get to
know us better and we can make this work better.
