Help please

I am new to longboarding and would like to know how the
Durometer works. I do not if it's the higher the number is,
the easier the wheel will slide or if it's the lower the number
is. Could someone please explain it to me?

78a is a soft wheel good for grip, 89a would be a harder wheel, better for breaking free and sliding
