i think thats the most vague question, different laws and rights apply to different areas of the world, also its hard to define speedboarding as some people know the legal ways to get around a lot of things....

from my experience most cops dont even know the skateboard related laws or by-laws. if you are in a bike lane or on a road with no yellow lines, i dont think they could do anything. however if you are SPEEDING or impeding traffic they have reasonable cause to pull you over, and try to impound your "vehicle", or issue a speeding ticket. its usually pretty easy to talk your way out of it, unless the cop is on a power trip or you were being dangerous or disrespectful. skating on the highway i feel is kind of a grey area, usually if you are on the highway you are pushing slowly on the shoulder, or bombing fast enough to keep up with traffic. either way your not nececerily putting yourself or others in harms way. but the cops dont always realize it, i also think just the fact that its unexpected to see a boarder on the highway, they would probably pull you over anway. But generaly it all comes down to your attitude and the mood of the officer involved. iv had just as many encounters with cops who were stoked on boarding as i have with jackasses who wanna arrest you. i once had a cop run me off the road with car, and another one pull in front of me and slam on the brakes, but i got away that time... bomb your local hills outrun your local cops!!!!

in north van, Iv been pulled over for being an "out of control" skateboarder. usually, they don't care at reeeally late night or reeeeallly early in the morning. I'v also been told it's illegal to bomb hills (even while obeying traffic laws) within two blocks of lonsdale. (I questioned that one...) I heard somewhere that we share the same or have similar traffic laws to those guys who ride ten speed bikes everywhere...
